Use our Green Level HorseSense study guide for beginner students in unmounted lessons that expand the student’s knowledge of equine health and safety with basic first aid and stable management practices, conditioning, and rules for safe trail riding.
Students who learned basic terminology and safety rules in Red and Yellow Levels are now ready to apply that knowledge with some Green Level hands-on skills, including detailed instructions for taking equine vital signs, applying a stable bandage, and safely administering paste dewormers.
We consider the Green Level knowledge and horse care skills to be the minimum requirement for anyone who rides, whether or not they own/lease a horse.
ABOUT OUR STUDY GUIDES
We use the study guides, along with our Teaching Guides and other educational resources, to provide detailed instructional content for unmounted classes or clinics — and for our students to study at home in preparation for lessons.
We’ve also found study guides to be an invaluable asset when coordinating instruction between multiple instructors or training assistants and barn helpers.
