Level Up Flashcards – Toxic Plants

Learning Levels Downloads

Helpful information about this resource:

This printable Level Up flashcard set can be used for Purple Level unmounted lessons that teach students to recognize common plants, shrubs, and trees that are toxic to horses.

The set actually contains three related sets of flashcards, with separate cards for terms, images and definitions. All of the terminology is taken directly from the information in our study guides – in this case, the Purple Level HorseSense Study Guide.

Definition cards include a brief overview of  symptoms and possible treatment for affected horses — but students should consult additional resources for in-depth information. See helpful links below.

Flashcards are formatted for full-color, single-page printing on card stock. And yes, we think it’s definitely worth the cost of colored ink to help students identify poisonous plants in our pastures!

28 terms in this set.

We’ve been blessed with many talented photographers over the years: students who voluntarily stood in sweltering/ freezing arenas, capturing lifelong memories of lessons, camps and shows. We’re grateful to all of them!

One former student, Delaney Witbrod, is now a professional photographer with a gift for animal portraits – see more of her fine work here. We’re also grateful for photos of Western riding donated by LLPro instructors – particularly Bit of Pleasure Horse School and Joyful Hearts Photography!

You’ll find illustrations throughout our online courses and printed materials graciously donated by our friend Rhonda Hagy. Evan Surrusco contributes additional illustrations and handles most of our photo processing. Contact us for information about their work.
