Quadrille Camp Organizer’s Guide

Learning Levels Downloads

Helpful information about this resource:

Take one part dressage routine and add one part equine theater, a pinch of magic and a whole lot of fun! You’ll get Quadrille Camp, our favorite money-making event that we ran annually for over a decade. Use this helpful organizer’s guide to create your own Quadrille Camp — a drill-team based horseback riding camp that can be spread out over a week or condensed into one intense weekend.

Participants form small teams, then choreograph theatrical routines that are ridden to music in an end-of-camp performance.

This guide shares our blueprint for running a successful Quadrille Camp, including:

  • Options for scheduling a weekend or week-long camp.
  • Prerequisites for horse and rider that allow you to practice drill work safely.
  • Tech specs for sound systems and performance music.
  • Tips on hosting a spectacular end-of-camp Showcase.
  • Recommended resources, including our Quadrille Camp Lesson Plans and Quadrille Camp Handouts.

We weren’t the only ones who thought Quadrille Camp was pretty great — spots in this late summer camp often sold out before April!

We’ve been blessed with many talented photographers over the years: students who voluntarily stood in sweltering/ freezing arenas, capturing lifelong memories of lessons, camps and shows. We’re grateful to all of them!

One former student, Delaney Witbrod, is now a professional photographer with a gift for animal portraits – see more of her fine work here. We’re also grateful for photos of Western riding donated by LLPro instructors – particularly Bit of Pleasure Horse School and Joyful Hearts Photography!

You’ll find illustrations throughout our online courses and printed materials graciously donated by our friend Rhonda Hagy. Evan Surrusco contributes additional illustrations and handles most of our photo processing. Contact us for information about their work.
