Teal Horsemanship is an advanced intermediate Level, and the highest mounted Level in the Learning Levels program.
It introduces more sophisticated dressage techniques and training philosophy, and develops strong jumping skills in a variety of settings. Teal Level riders will learn to “think like a trainer,” to ride with awareness and appreciation of different horses, and to understand that this Level is not as much about completion as it is beginning a new journey.
While the guide is written for English riding disciplines, much of the key information here is true for all students learning to refine their seat, and could be adapted for use with our Western curriculum.
It’s important to help students decide whether they’re ready to commit to Teal Level.
The first pages of this study guides include a NOTE ABOUT THE UPPER HORSEMANSHIP LEVELS, and several pages outlining the rider’s requirements for success at this Level. We suggest scheduling time to discuss this information with your potential Teal Level students. They will need a firm understanding of those requirements — and any options available to them — in order to achieve all the Teal mounted objectives.
ABOUT OUR STUDY GUIDES
We use the study guides, along with our lesson plans and other educational resources, to provide detailed instructional content for mounted classes or clinics — and for our students to study at home in preparation for lessons.
We’ve also found study guides to be an invaluable asset when coordinating instruction between multiple instructors or training assistants and barn helpers.
