The fifth Learning Levels HorseSense guide for unmounted equine instruction.
Orange Level students begin to look at the big picture of equine management, learning to think like a horse and consider the long-term effects of feeding, training and health care practices.
With the help of this guide and some hands-on instruction, students will expand their knowledge of equine behavior; learn to make conditioning plans for their horses’ activities and their own fitness; practice safe and efficient longeing; understand related distances and correctly set poles and fences for gridwork and gymnastic exercises; determine the appropriate body clip for their horses; deepen their knowledge of equine digestion and feeding requirements; wrap a hoof; incorporate dental care and immunizations into their horse care routines; and evaluate a horse’s conformation with consideration of breed types.
The knowledge gained in this Level allows students to make sound decisions designed to keep a horse healthy and happy.
