Lesson Plans – HorseCentered Sample Set – Gold Level

Learning Levels Downloads

Helpful information about this resource:

Sample set of unmounted lesson plans for Gold Level using the HorseCentered Levels curriculum – contains two free lessons for teaching advanced equine behavior and training theory.

HorseCentered lessons are dedicated to helping students prioritize their relationships with their horses and shift to a more HorseCentered perspective. Many of these lessons can be taught indoors during inclement weather – with or without a horse!

Gold Level students will deepen awareness of equine body language and knowledge of advanced training concepts, demonstrating partnership and communication throughout all groundwork exercises. Students are encouraged to consider the potential physical benefits of ground training and to apply problem-solving skills to a variety of common training scenarios, including working with a horse at liberty.

Includes 2 lessons:

  • Play Ball
  • Come and Go

We’ve been blessed with many talented photographers over the years: students who voluntarily stood in sweltering/ freezing arenas, capturing lifelong memories of lessons, camps and shows. We’re grateful to all of them!

One former student, Delaney Witbrod, is now a professional photographer with a gift for animal portraits – see more of her fine work here. We’re also grateful for photos of Western riding donated by LLPro instructors – particularly Bit of Pleasure Horse School and Joyful Hearts Photography!

You’ll find illustrations throughout our online courses and printed materials graciously donated by our friend Rhonda Hagy. Evan Surrusco contributes additional illustrations and handles most of our photo processing. Contact us for information about their work.
