Learning Levels Downloads

Helpful information about this resource:

This is the second set of lesson plans for Gold Level in the unmounted HorseCentered Levels curriculum, containing 10 lessons for teaching advanced equine behavior and training theory. Set #2 – Possibility allows students to put their training knowledge to use in the arena, working toward sophistication in ground handling and liberty skills. This Level tackles complex training challenges such as trailer loading while introducing students to a variety of techniques.

Many of these lessons can be taught indoors during inclement weather. Lessons can be taught consecutively, or combined and presented in any order that works logically for your students and program. Each plan contains a list of required equipment, a suggested presentation and breakdown of time, and tips on adapting exercises for both private students and large groups, along with recommendations for supplementary resources.

Includes 10 lessons:

  • Movement Matters
  • Well in Hand
  • Hip Hip Hooray
  • Ready to Ride
  • Going Places

We’ve been blessed with many talented photographers over the years: students who voluntarily stood in sweltering/ freezing arenas, capturing lifelong memories of lessons, camps and shows. We’re grateful to all of them!

One former student, Delaney Witbrod, is now a professional photographer with a gift for animal portraits – see more of her fine work here. We’re also grateful for photos of Western riding donated by LLPro instructors – particularly Bit of Pleasure Horse School and Joyful Hearts Photography!

You’ll find illustrations throughout our online courses and printed materials graciously donated by our friend Rhonda Hagy. Evan Surrusco contributes additional illustrations and handles most of our photo processing. Contact us for information about their work.
