Safety Rules Checklist – Red Level

Learning Levels Downloads

Helpful information about this resource:

Red Level HorseSense introduces a BUNCH of important safety rules for both unmounted lessons and beginner riding lessons. You can help your students remember all those critical rules with this handy checklist.

  • Use the checklist in combination with our Prompts for Red Level Safety Rules. Have students select an item from your bucket of prompts and tell you which safety rule that item represents.
  • Or give each student a printed checklist and have them find the prompt that matches each rule.
  • It’s always fun to ask them to ACT OUT the safety rules. Try this with pairs of students – one as the erring human and one as the long-suffering horse! :o)
  • Use the printed checklists along with our Stuff Happens Cards to reinforce WHY these rules exist – and feel free to embellish with your own “horror stories”.

We’ve been blessed with many talented photographers over the years: students who voluntarily stood in sweltering/ freezing arenas, capturing lifelong memories of lessons, camps and shows. We’re grateful to all of them!

One former student, Delaney Witbrod, is now a professional photographer with a gift for animal portraits – see more of her fine work here. We’re also grateful for photos of Western riding donated by LLPro instructors – particularly Bit of Pleasure Horse School and Joyful Hearts Photography!

You’ll find illustrations throughout our online courses and printed materials graciously donated by our friend Rhonda Hagy. Evan Surrusco contributes additional illustrations and handles most of our photo processing. Contact us for information about their work.
