Level Up Flashcards – Red Horsemanship

Learning Levels Downloads

Helpful information about this resource:

This Level Up flashcard set for Red Level contains contain terms and definitions for the important mounted Horsemanship knowledge you want students to remember.

Level Up flashcards can be used for student self-study or for a variety of fun camp, clinic, and group lesson quiz-bowl type games. All of the terminology is taken directly from the information in our both the English and Western versions of our students’ Red Level Horsemanship Study Guide.

REVISED in 2025: The revised .ZIP download file has two versions: one set is designed to print on standard 2″ x 3.5″ business card templates, and the other set has a grid of cutting lines for printing on plain card stock. Both sets are designed for a single-page print with the terms and definitions on separate cards, which makes them useful for matching games.

This zipped archive (.ZIP) contains two different PDF templates and a README file with printing instructions and tips. (Get help for zipped downloads HERE.)

164 terms in this set, with a total of 328 cards.

This zipped archive contains two PDF files that are formatted for full color desktop printing on standard 2″ x 3.5” business card sheets (10 cards per sheet). We use Avery template #8871 or equivalent.

Or just print on card stock and cut.

The file also contains a README file with helpful printing instructions.

Extract the PDF files from the .ZIP archive and save them to your desktop or mobile device. (Get help with zipped files here.)

For best results, start with the README.pdf, which will help you determine which file to use for your printing needs. Then use our general printing instructions, along with your printer model’s documentation, and do a one-page test print first.

PRO TIP: You could also create your own custom Level Up card sets with our template – just copy and paste to a new document, then edit.

If you don’t have access to a printer, try opening the SINGLE-PAGE PDF file on your desktop or mobile device. You should be able to scroll through the cards to read the terms and definitions.

Make sure your printer software is not set to “shrink to fit”!

We’ve been blessed with many talented photographers over the years: students who voluntarily stood in sweltering/ freezing arenas, capturing lifelong memories of lessons, camps and shows. We’re grateful to all of them!

One former student, Delaney Witbrod, is now a professional photographer with a gift for animal portraits – see more of her fine work here. We’re also grateful for photos of Western riding donated by LLPro instructors – particularly Bit of Pleasure Horse School and Joyful Hearts Photography!

You’ll find illustrations throughout our online courses and printed materials graciously donated by our friend Rhonda Hagy. Evan Surrusco contributes additional illustrations and handles most of our photo processing. Contact us for information about their work.
