Level Up Flashcards – Equine Conformation

Learning Levels Downloads

Helpful information about this resource:

Teaching equine conformation just got easier with this set of flashcards for Blue Level HorseSense. Our printable flashcards combine terms, definitions, and illustrations to help your students remember the terminology and begin to develop an eye for conformation faults.

Blue Level introduces the idea that a horse’s conformation should influence the choices we make for that horse, including workload and appropriate riding activities. Learning conformation concepts and terminology takes a LOT of repetition, so you’ll want to use these flashcards in many different learning games. You can have students match all 47 terms with their corresponding images or definitions – or both – and use them for BINGO cards and quiz-bowl challenges.

You can also distribute cards to students and ask them to find horses in your barn (or photos on the internet) that match their cards. Many possibilites!

NOTE: This set has three cards for each term, so it’s not designed for duplex printing.

47 terms in this set.

We’ve been blessed with many talented photographers over the years: students who voluntarily stood in sweltering/ freezing arenas, capturing lifelong memories of lessons, camps and shows. We’re grateful to all of them!

One former student, Delaney Witbrod, is now a professional photographer with a gift for animal portraits – see more of her fine work here. We’re also grateful for photos of Western riding donated by LLPro instructors – particularly Bit of Pleasure Horse School and Joyful Hearts Photography!

You’ll find illustrations throughout our online courses and printed materials graciously donated by our friend Rhonda Hagy. Evan Surrusco contributes additional illustrations and handles most of our photo processing. Contact us for information about their work.
