HorseSense Show Prep Checklist

Learning Levels Downloads

Helpful information about this resource:

Help students prepare for a relaxed, safe and enjoyable horse show experience with our detailed 8-week show preparation checklist. Checklists encourage students to plan ahead and avoid that last-minute panic — and to be prepared for any equine or human emergency that might occur before, during, and after their show rounds.

Great for teaching show prep lessons or clinics! We also use Stuff Happens at the Show cards to illustrate the MANY things that can go wrong at shows, along with the detailed packing list used by our Level Up Instruction students.

Can be easily customized for your barn or individual use: just copy and paste into any desktop software to edit.

Share the file with students to make sure that everyone on your show team is prepared for a great show experience!

We’ve been blessed with many talented photographers over the years: students who voluntarily stood in sweltering/ freezing arenas, capturing lifelong memories of lessons, camps and shows. We’re grateful to all of them!

One former student, Delaney Witbrod, is now a professional photographer with a gift for animal portraits – see more of her fine work here. We’re also grateful for photos of Western riding donated by LLPro instructors – particularly Bit of Pleasure Horse School and Joyful Hearts Photography!

You’ll find illustrations throughout our online courses and printed materials graciously donated by our friend Rhonda Hagy. Evan Surrusco contributes additional illustrations and handles most of our photo processing. Contact us for information about their work.
