HorseSense Equine First Aid Kit Checklist

Learning Levels Downloads

Helpful information about this resource:

This handy printable checklist has lists of common items found in equine first aid kits, organized by use: vital signs, wound care, hoof care, leg bandages, etc.

Great teaching tool to help students identify items used to treat minor equine veterinary issues, especially when used with our Green Level HorseSense Study Guide.

We’ve also found the checklist helpful as a tool to:

  • inventory and restock the equine first aid kits in our barn and horse trailers.
  • keep our equine kits organized, with labeled storage boxes and laminated copies of the relevant checklist sections inside each box.
  • help students prepare for trail rides and competitions.
  • help boarders or prospective new horse owners take responsibilty for their own horse care supplies.

List includes spaces to add your own items, along with preferred supplier and cost per item.

We’ve been blessed with many talented photographers over the years: students who voluntarily stood in sweltering/ freezing arenas, capturing lifelong memories of lessons, camps and shows. We’re grateful to all of them!

One former student, Delaney Witbrod, is now a professional photographer with a gift for animal portraits – see more of her fine work here. We’re also grateful for photos of Western riding donated by LLPro instructors – particularly Bit of Pleasure Horse School and Joyful Hearts Photography!

You’ll find illustrations throughout our online courses and printed materials graciously donated by our friend Rhonda Hagy. Evan Surrusco contributes additional illustrations and handles most of our photo processing. Contact us for information about their work.
