Horse Tack Printable Paper Doll – Rainbow Level

Learning Levels Downloads

Helpful information about this resource:

This printable set has a horse paper doll that can be tacked up with common pieces of English and Western tack.

Instructors can create a re-useable demonstration set for teaching tack basics. When used as part of a lesson, beginner students play with the paper dolls to learn tack terminology, the purpose of each piece of tack, and the correct order for placing items on a horse. Or have students color the printed pages during a private or group lesson, camp or clinic. If time or lack of helpers doesn’t allow for cutting out pieces during the lesson, students could take colored pages home and cut pieces with parental assistance.

The PDF file includes three additional pages that can be used as answer keys, with images of fully tacked-up horses. These pages are also suitable as simple coloring pages for lessons or horsey homework.

For a fun show-and-tell, send students home with several copies of all the pages to create their own herd of horses with a wardrobe of colorful tack!

Instructions page has helpful tips for printing and cutting out the horse and tack – including a magnetic set you can use as a teaching tool.

We’ve been blessed with many talented photographers over the years: students who voluntarily stood in sweltering/ freezing arenas, capturing lifelong memories of lessons, camps and shows. We’re grateful to all of them!

One former student, Delaney Witbrod, is now a professional photographer with a gift for animal portraits – see more of her fine work here. We’re also grateful for photos of Western riding donated by LLPro instructors – particularly Bit of Pleasure Horse School and Joyful Hearts Photography!

You’ll find illustrations throughout our online courses and printed materials graciously donated by our friend Rhonda Hagy. Evan Surrusco contributes additional illustrations and handles most of our photo processing. Contact us for information about their work.
