Advanced Pony Parts Labels – Musculoskeletal System – Avery 5195

Learning Levels Downloads

Helpful information about this resource:

Print 60 equine musculoskeletal system labels with this template – with a separate printable word bank – to help your Teal Level HorseSense students learn advanced equine anatomy.

The horse’s musculoskeletal system consists of the bones, cartilage, muscles, ligaments, and tendons that support the horse’s weight, allow motion, and protect vital organs.

Students can use the word bank to look up terms using their choice of equine anatomy reference books or websites. Once students have learned the location and function of each term, ask them to apply the printed labels to the correct approximate location on a willing horse. As they apply each label, students should be able to discuss the function of that pony part.

LLPro Tip: Prevent information overload by dividing up the list of terms and teaching them over several sessions!

Print the word bank on plain paper. Labels can be printed on Avery #5195 label sheets (or equivalent).

We’ve been blessed with many talented photographers over the years: students who voluntarily stood in sweltering/ freezing arenas, capturing lifelong memories of lessons, camps and shows. We’re grateful to all of them!

One former student, Delaney Witbrod, is now a professional photographer with a gift for animal portraits – see more of her fine work here. We’re also grateful for photos of Western riding donated by LLPro instructors – particularly Bit of Pleasure Horse School and Joyful Hearts Photography!

You’ll find illustrations throughout our online courses and printed materials graciously donated by our friend Rhonda Hagy. Evan Surrusco contributes additional illustrations and handles most of our photo processing. Contact us for information about their work.
