Wrapping the nosebands and browbands of bridles with colorful ribbons is an ideal horse camp, clinic, or unmounted lesson craft activity — with help from the step-by-step instructions in this illustrated PDF download!
Bridle wraps are always a popular group activity during our summer and holiday camps. Each student — or each team of students — chooses two contrasting ribbon colors and the group works together to wrap the nosebands or browbands of the bridles for their camp mounts. The file contains instructions for two different wrapping patterns.

The goal of this simple activity is to let students express themselves with color (ask any tack shop or barn equipment manufacturer about that concept!) in a temporary fashion that doesn’t harm your school tack.
It’s also a fun way for groups in camps, mounted games competitions or schooling shows to display their team spirit.
Younger students may need some hands-on help to complete their wraps, so be prepared to lend assistance where necessary.
LLPro tip: Bridles must be clean before wrapping. Consider combining a tack-cleaning session with a tack-related unmounted lesson (see Resources below), followed by a bridle wrap party!
