Learning Levels Downloads

Helpful information about this resource:

Our second set of 10 unmounted lesson plans for Pink Level creates a foundation of skills for ground handling, using different forms of pressure and reinforcement to shape the horse’s behavior.

Lessons for this level of the HorseCentered curriculum end with students designing an obstacle course to show off their new groundworks skills, resulting in positive reinforcement for students as well as horses!

Many of these lessons can be taught indoors during inclement weather. Skills include effective leading, yielding, backing up, sending, targeting and an introduction to working at liberty.

Includes 10 lessons:

  • Next Level Leading
  • Hips Don’t Lie
  • Shoulder Shuffle
  • Back It Up
  • This Way Please
  • Infinity Cones
  • What Goes Around

We’ve been blessed with many talented photographers over the years: students who voluntarily stood in sweltering/ freezing arenas, capturing lifelong memories of lessons, camps and shows. We’re grateful to all of them!

One former student, Delaney Witbrod, is now a professional photographer with a gift for animal portraits – see more of her fine work here. We’re also grateful for photos of Western riding donated by LLPro instructors – particularly Bit of Pleasure Horse School and Joyful Hearts Photography!

You’ll find illustrations throughout our online courses and printed materials graciously donated by our friend Rhonda Hagy. Evan Surrusco contributes additional illustrations and handles most of our photo processing. Contact us for information about their work.
