This is the first set of lesson plans for Pink Level in the unmounted HorseCentered Levels curriculum, containing 10 lessons for teaching beginner equine behavior and training theory. In Set #1 – Mindset, students are encouraged to interpret their horse’s communication and refine their own.
Many of these lessons can be taught indoors during inclement weather. Equine body language, prey response, and basic behavior modification techniques are all covered, including a lesson on using positive reinforcement safely. Several lessons are dedicated to helping students prioritize their relationships with their horses and shift to a more HorseCentered perspective.
Includes an introduction to teaching Pink Level skills, with safety precautions and suggestions for modifications.

Each lesson plan has 2 pages of information:
- A list of required equipment, including notes on pre-lesson preparation.
- A suggested breakdown of instructional content presented over the course of an hour. (Note that rest breaks are not written in; make sure to include these as needed!)
- Ideas for games and modifications when teaching private and group lessons.
- Additional thoughts and cautionary notes covering scenarios you may face during the course of the lesson.
